Privacy Notice

Security One FCU (SOFCU) is owned by its members and run by a board of directors elected by you.  You can be confident that your financial privacy is a top priority of this credit union. We are required by law to provide you this privacy notice to explain how we gather, use, and more importantly, safeguard your personal financial information.  If you have any questions pertaining to this notice, please contact a Personal Account Representative at (817) 273-5900. And for your added security, please always remember that SOFCU Personal Account Representatives never call you at home and ask for information attempting to obtain information about you or your account (account #, social security #, credit card #, etc.). If anyone ever calls you claiming they are from SOFCU and requests such information, please try to obtain as much information as you can about the caller and contact the credit union immediately or report them to your local law enforcement authorities.

We are committed to providing you with exceptional products and services to meet your financial needs. The ability to provide you with these products and services requires that we share information about you with a select group of vendors and suppliers in order to complete your transactions and to provide you with certain financial opportunities. In order to do so, we have entered into agreements with specific companies that provide either services or additional financial products for you to consider.

1. An example of such a requirement would be:

Security One FCU securely providing your membership number to the vendor contracted to print checks that you order to draft from your checking account. Your account number is part of the routing and transit number that must appear on your checks in order to draft from your account.

Under these arrangements, we may disclose all of the information we gather, as described below, to specific vendors and suppliers that perform marketing or other services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.  To protect our members' privacy, we only work with vendors and suppliers that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide as per our specific directives.  We do not authorize these vendors and suppliers to sell the information we provide them to other third parties.

Information We Collect and Disclose About You

We gather the following nonpublic personal information about you from a variety of select sources and may disclose all the information we gather to specific vendors and suppliers that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have specific joint marketing agreements.

  • From membership and loan applications and other forms, we obtain information such as name, address, social security number and income.

  • From your transactions with us or other specific companies and vendors that work closely with us to provide you with financial products and services, we obtain information such as your account balances, payment history, parties to transactions, and credit card usage.

  • From consumer reporting agencies, we obtain information such as your creditworthiness and credit history.

  • From verifications of information you provide on applications and other forms, we obtain information from current or past employers, other financial institutions and other sources listed on the application.

We may also disclose information we collect about you under other circumstances as required or permitted by law.   These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security of our financial records.

If you terminate your membership with SOFCU, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as required or permitted by law.

How We Protect Your Information

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data.  Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy.
